I feel great joy each time I practice my piano and learn new things. I feel lucky to live in an era where YouTube and other digital media are available to me for inspiration and adoration. I let wonderful artists guide me through their achievments, because I know that if I work as hard as Valentina, and if I love the piano anywhere near as much as she does, then maybe someday I will also have great skill too. But as a person who loves to play piano, the only thing I listen to is the music. I re ognize that the general public like to be critical of all performances. I only really have one full contiguous year of applied practice and at age 56 with arthritis, I feel very lucky to have her as a unbeknownst mentor. I believe generally, that we often mistate our feelings.įor myself, I admire Valentina and her skills. This description and definition is short, but makes it somewhat clear the similarity and coexistence of envy with Jealousy, and the unique difference between the two emotional states. This means that when you are feeling jealous, you are often feeling envious as well." "And so envy is a two-person situation whereas jealousy is a three-person situation.Envy is a reaction to lacking something.Jealousy is a reaction to the threat of losing something (usually someone). Here is the statement I mentioned regarding this subject. Had I not cared about the woman, or never knew her and had no feelings about her, then I might simply be envious that my friend had a girl and I dont, which then is a two person thing. This kind of feeling is not the same as envy, because I have feelings and emotions that require a different balance because there is likely to be more intense feeling and interaction as things progress. For example, I might be jealous if my friend starts dating a woman that I wanted to date. Jealousy on the other hand, generally involves 3 people. But using the word envy is often thought of as a replacement of that feeling, wrongly. Perhaps it would be more appropriate on my part to say I admire her skill, and wish to emulate her abilities through my own rigorous practice and study. I adore Valentina and her skill, but I often say I envy her ability. So, Envy is related to a situation where only 2 people are involved. Those are acts that stem from the deep emotional pit of envy, which can be just as emotionally bad. I am reminded of the Ice skater that was attacked and harmed before the olympics, so that her competitor could win. True deep jealousy is mentioned in the bible because that real jealousy can cause us to act against others in horrible ways. Those "feelings" of real jealousy are truly negative for any person to harbor, and can lead to a variety of other behaviors. The truth is, when someone is truly jealous, seething feelings of jealousy are only rarely ever stated. People often misuse the word in that manner. For example, if your friend buys a new car that you always wanted, you might say the them that you are jealous, because you want that car too. The proper use of these words is quite often ambiguous. From my experience, most of the time when someone uses the word jealous or jealousy, the generally mean envious or envy. Before I paste that statement, I will preface it with my own observations regarding it general use in society.
